*A micro-rant*
She said the State isn’t spending enough on poor schoolchildren. I profoundly disagree. Another .25 tax on Lattes isn’t the solution. By transferring personal responsibility to an aggregate government hive mind we are surrendering some of the very things that makes a human, human. No one thinks the gov. does a good job. We give them the .25 not because of their business reputation, but because we don’t want to be personally invested. We transfer personal accountability and responsibility with that quarter dollar to a program and in so doing we lose part of what could have made us more human. We ante .25 so someone else, a bureaucratic program, who will have skin in the game of humanity. But it is having personal responsibility and compassion that makes us human and without it we become poor examples and our children suffer, and people will say the government doesn’t have enough programs. What we need are more humans because only humans can be truly humane.
